CURRENT CANS & STUFF

Hello everyone! Dave McMurry here to keep you up-to-date as much as possible on current cans and other current beer stuff. Below is a list of things that I have seen/heard about for the first quarter of 2005. If you have any news, please send an email to bluebonnetbeer@yahoo.com

Let’s start off with the aluminum bottlesŠ.or are they cans?? You decide.

Last year in 2004, the first company to put out the aluminum bottle was Big Sky Brewing Co. in Missoula, MT. They came out with 4 different bottlesŠ

Moose Drool Brown Ale Motorcycle 12.5oz

Scape Goat Pale Ale Golf 12.5oz

Moose Drool Brown Ale - Fly fishing 14.5oz

Moose Drool Brown Ale Santa Moose 14.5oz

After those came one from Iron CityŠ.

ß Since then, it seems to be catching on. Here are some moreŠ.

Anheuser Busch - Michelob

Anheuser Busch - Michelob Light

Anheuser Busch - World Select

Anheuser Busch Budweiser

It’s cutting edge, it’s new and it’s turning heads in hot spots across the country. “Sleek,” “modern” and “cool” are words being used by adult beer drinkers who have had a sneak peak to describe the new aluminum bottle launched by Anheuser-Busch. The stylish, 16-ounce aluminum bottles for Michelob, Michelob Light and Anheuser World Select are available at select bars and clubs in Atlanta, Chicago, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Nashville, Tenn., New York, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, San Diego, Washington D.C. and select Florida cities.

“Our new aluminum bottles gives consumers what they want — cool packaging to complement their image and style,” said Rick Leininger, director, Michelob Brands, Anheuser-Busch, Inc. “This sleek and sophisticated bottle fills the need for beer drinkers in certain settings like upscale bars and clubs.”

Point-of-sale items to support the new packaging include back-bar display holders and sign-making templates. Bottle openers are available for the pry-open aluminum bottles.

“The new aluminum bottle is a great complement to our current line-up of glass bottles and aluminum can packaging,” Leininger said. “Adults who have sampled it really like the upscale, modern look of the package.”

The new aluminum bottles are manufactured by Exal USA, based in Youngstown, Ohio.

ß There is also a couple of Capri sun bottle and at least 2 different Vodka bottles that have been seen in FLŠ.

ß Molson has also produced a bottle Molson Kick.

Miller Fruit beers - Miller will test a product called Brutal Fruit in Seattle, Tampa and Richmond, Va., beginning March 14. Miller says the product is fruit juice with 5% alcohol, much like beer. It comes in four flavors - strawberry, mango, kiwi and raisin-like litchi. (These are in bottles)

What the heck is a litchi???
